Caprese cake at “El Bar de Aura”, Ushuaia

We are walking along the main street of Ushuaia and a signboard catches our attention:

“El Bar de Aura, Vegetarian restaurant. Caprese cake and salad. 150 pesos.”

The Bar de Aura is not on the street, we only found it thanks to the signboard … You have to climb some stairs to access the establishment. It is a small place, with few tables, warm and cozy; It’s like being in the living room at home.

Romina is the queen of the kitchen and the person who is responsible every day to prepare the meals that are served there and those that are taken away, which represent the bulk of its clientele.

And the truth is that it’s vegetarian menu is homemade, delicious and they even deliver at home without additional cost … If I lived in Ushuaia, I think I would not cook anymore! And so, they have grown, thanks to word of mouth from satisfied customers who repeat every day and recommend other customers.

As soon as we introduce ourselves to the team and propose to cook together, they accepted and they showed us how to cook the Caprese Cake recipe.

Caprese Cake Recipe

Amounts for a single portion:

1 Piece of puff pastry

80 grs of Cream Cheese or Mozzarella

½ tomato

2 basil leaves

1 teaspoon olive oil

 

Put the pastry in a small cake recipient and bake at 220 degrees between 5 and 8 minutes until the dough is golden brown.

Meanwhile, cut the cheese and tomato into cubes. Chop the basil.

Put in a bowl and add the oil. Mix well all the ingredients.

Remove from the oven and pour the filling over the dough.

Return to bake, this time at maximum power so that the cheese melts, about 10-15 minutes depending on the oven.

Serve with salad and enjoy!
